New Me Books update adds comics and chapter books by James Huggins

The Me Books team has been furiously beavering away on the latest update to the iOS and Android apps in our biggest revision ever. The new Me Books app integrates the existing Me Comics app which will no longer be made available as a standalone app. We've also added a new format to the mix with illustrated chapter books for slightly older kids. The result is that Me Books is now a one-stop shop for children aged 2-10 looking for an exquisite digital reading experience.

With new titles and brands added including Thomas the Tank Engine and Angry Birds as well as a brand new website just around the corner, it's safe to say that all things Me Books are going to be very exciting in the run up to Christmas.

Tale Spin - Choose your own picture book adventure by James Huggins

Tale Spin is a project we've had squirrelled away for almost a year now and we thought it might be interesting to show you. We unveiled the video below to the public for the first time at the recent Children's Media Conference in Sheffield.

As with most of the digital storytelling projects we work on we wanted Tale Spin to be a simple, playful format that deliberately had one foot planted in print books and the other in digital. We have no plans to release Tale Spin in the near future but if we have a few rainy days in succession, who knows?

New white-label game formats now available! by James Huggins

We often hear clients tell us how they would like to create a mobile or web game to support their brand but fear that the cost is prohibitive. This is probably true in most cases so we decided to find a way around this problem.

Mobile games have seen the rise in popularity of a range of specific game formats or types such as running (Temple Run, Mega Run, Robot Unicorn), jumping (Doodle Jump, Knightmare Tower) and flying (Tiny Wings, Whale Trail, Flappy Bird). Each one of these games of course has it's own unique take on the format but the fundamental concept is the same.

We've developed a game engine for each of the following format types:

  • Flying
  • Maze
  • Jumping
  • Running
  • Bubble Shooter
  • Puzzle

By adding in new graphics and making a few adjustments to the gameplay we are able to create a high quality game, of the types above, for any brand at a fraction of the normal cost. These game engines have been developed to work well both on the web and as apps.
