The Land of Me

Buddy Boo's Antarctica adventure by jen outlaw

Just before Christmas of last year Buddy Boo was invited on an epic journey to the very southern part of the world by one of our best pals, Mr James Mark, to take part in the Scott/Amundsen centenary race to the South Pole 2011/2012 to help raise money for Mencap.

Traipsing over 700KM of ice and snow and pulling a 70kg sledge and sleeping in a tent, Buddy Boo accompanied James and his fellow team mate, Marc Woods for what must be one of lifes greatest adventures in the world. Needless to say Buddy Boo was in his element.

A huge congratulations to team Sladen/Woods/Mencap for spending their Christmas in the coldest, windiest, highest and driest continent in the world. An incredible effort. Well done guys!!

The Land of Me 'experience day' at Space to Learn by jen outlaw

Back in March we were approached by the wonderful people at Jesmond Gardens Primary School asking if they could include The Land of Me in one of their 'experience days' - obviously we said yes.

The whole event took place at Space to Learn, a fantastic new facility designed to challenge conventional teaching methods. The Land of Me was projected onto all four walls of a massive room and the children were completely surrounded. Each wall displayed a different chapter from The Land of Me and in no time the kids were up on their feet dancing with Dodo and belting out tunes with Bernard.

It all looks incredible and we're told that the children had a fantastic day out, so a BIG thank you to everyone at Jesmond Gardens and Space to Learn for making it happen.

Apps and accolades by jen outlaw

We'll be honest with you, we're not above feeling that warm glow inside when our hard work gets a little recognition. So this week we feel particularly spoilt as both The Land of Me and Me Books got some praise.

The Land of Me: Story Time picked up the prestigious FWA: Mobile of the Day Award.

And...if you're looking for apps to delight your children over the holidays, the lovely Shane Richmond from The Telegraph has rustled up a list of the 10 best iOS and Android children's apps for Easter, which features our very own Peppa Pig Me Books as well as Tales for Great Grandchildren - a collection of beautifully illustrated stories written by our dear friend, John Jackson over at JJ Books.
